Lost and Found

In a time of rapid social transformation in China, the uncertainty of the past is inevitable, as houses that are no longer inhabited are successively rebuilt and disappeared with their memories. Along with the complex relationship between presence and absence, longing and loss, I think photography and memory influence each other.
In this work, which was born in this background, I used vernacular photographs collected from myself and my friends as materials. I summarized the characteristics they represent and made some miniatures. Then I took photographs of the miniatures.

Wang Chenyan was born in 1996 in JIANGSU PROVINCE, CHINA.
Now studying Art&Media in Department of Information Design at Tama Art University.

Hard to believe they are mere models, the portrayal of the rooms and her sentimental delivery, also certainly poignant, are astounding.
