Finding Beauty in the Mundane

While extraordinary photographs of travel destinations are attractive, it is also interesting to capture the small inspirations that can be found in the tedious scenery of everyday life. It may be a small sensation that raises the heart rate slightly, or it may be a slight sense of discomfort that suddenly intrudes into everyday life. I will continue to photograph such scenes in the years to come - as my lifework.

Taishi Arashida

Based in Tokyo, Taishi has been providing his photographic works for various media not only in Japan but also overseas. Since everything in the world is constantly changing, he believes that it is meaningful to preserve it in photographs. In 2021, he held his first solo exhibition "Evanescence" in Ginza, Tokyo, based on the same theme.

Jury selection

I felt that he is a very powerful photographer. Each photo has a very high degree of perfection, and I could see that my eyes were delighted when I was looking at the photo.
