OTHER HISTORIES
SHORT LIST
Statement
Hear the immigrants sing.
This piece was shot during 2014-2016 at the National Puerto Rican Day Parade in my neighborhood.
The annual festival of Puerto Ricans who do not have the right to vote in the U.S. but have U.S. citizenship.
I felt their assertion of identity buried in the history of Spain and the United States.
If someday I will dance Bon Odori in China during Obon.
I want to be prepared to dance well.

Jury selection
A very atypical but vibrant project, shot in New York that takes on the idea of alternative histories through the celebrations of the Puerto Rican community in New York City, evoking key questions of community, memory and identity.
