Portrait of Back-Alley Plants
“I couldn’t throw this pot away because my whole family grew up eating rice from it and
we couldn’t afford to buy a new one”, said one plant owner who uses an old rice pot as a plant pot.
There are several reasons for using strange pots for plants. I borrowed these pots, which were lovingly
grown outside of private houses, temples and even a sweetshop in the middle of Tokyo.
The photographs tell their stories by themselves.
As these plants sit comfortably in a little alley, a pleasant breeze blows through them.
What a truly amazing combination of pots and plants.
