THEME #45Winners2023JUN
SCENE
SHORT LIST
Statement
Before the lights go out in this city.
The light in front of you disappears the moment you reach for it.
The light that covers the city at night is fleeting and immediate.
The light that should be visible now seems to never cease, but it is constantly shifting, stagnating, and becoming a new light again.
Virtual space becomes more important and real space becomes partially scarce,
Other spaces are stripped of meaning and lose their significance.
Wandering the streets at night, we sometimes feel as if the city were alive.
The city, which should have been a mirror reflecting us, has somehow become distorted, twisted, and repulsive.
I no longer know where I stand in this city.
I wanted to preserve this view before the city itself disappears someday.

Jury selection
At night, the strong artificial light diffused in the city creates a world of dissonance. The world is also a world of thorough consumption. While the scene is progressing away from the concrete and toward abstraction, the ghostly city tells the story of the absence of human beings.
