Photographs taken on the street - all shot on 35mm film
Niki is a native New Yorker and resident of Brooklyn. She’s been photographing for around 20 years, and remains loyal to shooting film and traditional processes - always shoots with available light, and prefers to print in the darkroom. She had the good fortune of studying for many years with her idol, mentor and friend Mary Ellen Mark, to whom she is forever thankful for her encouragement and inspiration. Niki's hope is to share truthful images of street life wherever she may be - shot on film - and present those images in a graphically composed, emotional way.
“Niki really has her own sense of framing and space. She has her own particular way of seeing….her pictures are never easy. They’re never obvious. It’s almost like they were taken out of the corner of her eye.” — Mary Ellen Mark
This series embody the fun and enjoyment of snapshots, and therefore, the fascination of photography.
