Like memories turning into dreams, the narrative of her pictures comes to life through the atmosphere coming out of the relation between light and silence. We read her pictures like we remember the seasons: the place and time do not really matter, moments become memories according to the way it affects us

Solstices is the fifth publication of the Belgian photographer Lara Gasparotto. Active since 8 years in the Stieglitz 19 gallery in Antwerp, she has developped an intimate universe capturing moments of sweetness and melancholia. Like memories turning into dreams, the narrative of her pictures comes to life through the atmosphere coming out of the relation between light and silence. Jury selection

I connect with Lara’s images because they remind me of a memory that never happened, almost an imagined nostalgia. I think a photograph is successful when it makes you feel as if you were there, and Lara does a great job at that.
