Through my self-portrait series, I am exploring the identity that manifests within relationships. Each image represents loneliness, weakness, pain, trust, and support. It was my wish to portray my idea of relationships in the present time through dialogues and referencing of already existing pieces of art with the theme “relationship”.

Dai Asano

Dai Asano (born in 1996). I graduated from Keio University(Tokyo, Japan) with a BA in Business and Commerce.
My first encounter with photography was Pictures from Home by Larry Sultan. This was my starting point as an artist. I'm using photography as a tool to answer my questions with visual language. The current influence on my works is Catherine Opie, Talia Chetrit, and Gregory Halpern.
