WOMAN
SHORT LIST
Statement
My little fingernails
My nails are small. How have I longed for the beauty of long, slender fingers, a characteristic of female adults.
But now, I cherish each of my nails. Through nail art, I am able to instantly express my individuality fiercely, just like makeup. The act of doing so is the very essence of a beautiful woman, enticed by her own attractiveness.

Jury selection
Judged by Mika Ninagwa:
Nail art is adorable and can be seen as a symbol of what the wearer wants to become. It's the sort of thing you do for yourself too.
I would like this series to keep on going as I believe that the intrigue of this work simply increases proportionally to the number of images.
20 years’ worth of these photographs would be a solid body of work to look at.
