THEME SUMMARY
The first theme of the year is “COLOR” with Viviane Sassen as jury; a photographer who exquisitely employs vivid colors and composition to her images in fashion and art. Colors allow us to bring out a multitude of emotion with hopes and energy, distress and sadness through its various image contrasts or even the lack of color itself. With the beginning of this year, how will you tint your color?

JUDGE
Viviane Sassen
Born in 1972 in Amsterdam. She spent her early childhood in Africa and later joined the Utrecht School of the Arts and the Ateliers Arnhem to study fashion and photography. She then began her career as a fashion photographer for magazines such as Purple, VOGUE, Dazed & Confused and shot campaign visuals for leading fashion brands including Miu Miu and Louis Vuitton. She participated in the “New Photography” exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art New York in 2011. The same year, she received the Infinity Award – Fashion Photography by the New York International Center of Photography. In 2013, she exhibited at the 55th Venice Biennale for the exhibition, “The Encyclopedic Palace”. Her later exhibition “UMBRA” (Nederlands Fotomuseum, Rotterdam, 2014) was nominated for the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize in 2015. Some of her major photobooks are Flamboya (contrasto, 2008), Parasomnia (Prestel, 2011), UMBRA (oodee, 2014), Pikin Slee (Prestel, 2014), Of Mud and Lotus (artbeat publishers, 2017).
NOTE
The applicant must be older than 16 years old. If you are underthe age of 18, please apply after obtaining the consent of your parent or guardian. The registration fee is 2,000 JPY for each apply.

IMA next is a photo competition that aims to support emerging photographers to succeed in the art photography world.
| How to apply | – Please chose the theme you would like to enter for and fill out the appropriate submission form. Make sure you chose the right form as it is different depending on each theme. |

| Who can apply? | The applicant must be older than 16 years old. Otherwise, anyone is welcome! We have no restriction in terms of your nationality, age, gender or experience (Professional/Amateur). |
| Submission period | For each theme, there will be about 2 months submission period. |
| Application fee | 2,000JPY per entry. |
| Image requirements | – All submissions need to be still photographs, no moving images will be accepted. All sorts of post-production processes are allowed. |
